qfence
qfence is a distributed quorum, ownership and fencing orchestrator for safe automatic failover between two sites. At most one site owns an application at any time: a site takes over only through a raft quorum, and only once the site it replaces is proven fenced.
- Get started with the demo lab: two sites and a witness on one machine, and a failover in a few minutes.
- Concepts: quorum and generations, the witness, fencing, returning sites, controllers and bindings, application controllers, secrets.
- Install two sites and a witness on your own hosts, by hand, with Ansible or with Terraform.
- Configure controllers, availability plans and credentials.
- Controllers: a guide for each built-in type, infrastructure and application, and writing your own application controller.
- Operate: the dry run, failover and switchover, forced operations, the attention list, runbooks.
- Safety: what the tests prove, and the known limitations.
- Reference: flags, settings, schemas and protocols.
